Is carried forward to later relationships ! relationships comes from child"s initial, most imp. Babies learn to regulate emotions thru the manner we respond to / mirror their emotions. Not doing so causes probs in their dvlpt of emotion regulation pathways in brain. Serve and return = when babies cry, adults respond appropriately w eye contact, hug, etc. When they do so (like a game of tennis) they provide environment rich in serve and return experiences.
