Document Summary

William masters and virginia johnson provided one of the first models of human sexual response. Sexual response typically progresses in three stages: excitement, orgasm, resolution. The two basis physiological processes that occur during these stages are vasocongestion and myotonia. Vasocongestion occurs when a great deal of blood flows into the blood vessels in a region (this case, Myotonia occurs when muscles contract, not only in the genitals, but throughout the body the genitals) as a result of dilation in the blood vessels. Thus, size of the entrance to the vagina becomes smaller. Results when the corpora cavernosa and the corpus spongiosum fill with blood. Several arteries supply the cc and cs with blood. May be stimulated through physical stimulation, erotic thoughts or by stimulation by other parts of the body. For erection to occur, arteries in the penis must dilate (allowing more blood in) and veins must compress (reducing the amount that leaves)
