Level of arousal (loa): level of stimulation in the brain. Ascending reticular activation system (aras): the system in the brain that is believed to regulate overall arousal in the cortex. Eysenck thought introverts only need small amounts of stimulation to activities that will increase their level of stimulation. Studies show introverts differ in their physiological reactivity to simulation overstimulate them physiologically which leads to distress and withdrawn behavior. In extroverts the aras isn"t easily stimulated which leads them to seek.
