By 1934: 27 hospital-sponsored pre-payment plans in 6 provinces. Tommy douglas fought hard for universal health care father of health care. 1964 hall report: highlighted gaps in our health care systems, the large amount of canadians who did not have access to health care system. Medicare act 1968: equal federal-provincial cost sharing. Introduced conditions: prohibited opting out & extra billing, strengthened health care systems. Romanow commission: recommended expanding public non profit medicare to include home care & pharmacare.
