This suggests that society is responsible for the criminal behaviour as opposed to the individual. A child from a poor family is more likely to be poor as an adult (and visa versa) Opportunities for intellectual growth (travel, private school, tutors) Likeliness to meet or know people to help them find their place (private school counsellors, family friends) We feel safe crossing the road when it says walk because we know no cars will hit us.
