Women are more likely to do part time/precarious work which is associated with low income so that they can focus on the needs of the home. Focus on institutional sexism, but more so on the processes of socialization that affect individuals decisions in pursuing education and how femininity is devalued. How ethnic names affect people"s abilities in the workplace. Visibility and invisibility -> marginalization of disabilities -> seen through an ethnic sounding name which leads to a higher risk exposure of receiving discrimination. How aboriginal children were taken away from their families and immersed in cultural genocide within the schools. This is an example of a total institution. How the individuals were affected through emotional and physical abuse which carried through into their adult years -> primary socialization carrying into secondary socialization. Other affects on the community -> children were taken and then white washed which made them significantly different upon their return.
