Four-stage maodel to help change leaders in healthcare with the development of computerized physician order. Druker: health organization are complex due to the confluence of professions (physicians, nurses, pharmacists and admin) often with seemingly incompatible interests, perspectives and time horizons. Performance gap represents the space between current reality and future aspirations which is caused by strategic/technical opportunities that allow the organzations to do better. Mor/mar is to decrease error and increase safety. Where will we be when we get there is a common concern due to the complexity in implementing such programs. Monitoring performance measures is critical to focusing the attention of change leaders and those who will be asked to change. Goals, new behaviours, organizational structure and systems. The need for change is recongized by those whose work will be effected. Other change progarmas are vying for executive attention and resources. The organization will have to develop new capabilities to close the performance gap.
