Community courts solving complex problems in a defined geographical area and built strong communities. Probation was most likely to be part of a sentence in the category of crimes against the person (75 percent), compared to 59 percent of offenders in the category of crimes against property and 53 percent in the category of other . The most common offence in the category of crimes against the person where probation was used was criminal harassment (stalking), at 90 percent; common assault and uttering threats had probation orders attached to the sentence 81 percent and 79 percent of the time, respectively. The most common offences in the category of crimes against property in which a probation order was used were mischief (70 percent) and break and enter and fraud (both 66 percent). In the category of other criminal code, the most common use of probation was for weapons possession (52 percent).
