Robert and danny sand, two brothers who grew up in alberta. Their father had served time in jail but gave up crime at 20. Two brothers were always in trouble growing up with their friends, the only mixed- race kids in town. Danny went to a youth corrections centre at 15 for beating up another student. They had minimal contact with adults because they dropped out of school and most moved out of their homes. Robert was sentenced for 7 years in jail in 1998 for armed robbery and could never explain why he committed crimes. Danny ended up in jail too after his release he said he wouldn"t go back to jail. In 2001, robert was released and in december, violated his parole with his brother, as well as taking his girlfriend as they left for the maritimes. They went on a crime spree and when they didn"t stop for a stop sign, they were followed by rcmp.
