Around (cid:883)97(cid:882)"s with the liberation of women, there were an increase in crimes by women. Women who kill, do so in primarily domestic conflicts- they generally plan their kills and do it because they want to. Female serial killers, especially while alone, are almost invisible to the public and can kill over many years. Quiet killers they are every bit as lethal as male serial murderers. Females are rarely portrayed to the public with accuracy. Actual murders of women who meet requirements of serial killers target: children, the elderly or the sick. Most people imagine female serial killers as: no prior criminal record, not a brutal killer, no torture, uses a gun, experienced extreme childhood trauma, be mentally ill and of high intelligence. Females can be just as lethal as males, they just use different techniques to achieve goals. Account for 8% of all serial killers (2004-2014) Offenders who killed more than just one year: 71%
