Document Summary
Some companies grow so large that they expand into a muli-naional scale (foreign presence, foreign investment) The proper law when unspeciied is the law that the paries intended to govern their relaionship. Easiest way is just to have it in the contract: documentaion. The bill of lading doc from carrier that says goods have been shipped. Exw (ex works) buyer picks up from seller"s factory gate. Fob (free on board) seller delivers the goods onto buyer"s carrier. Cif (cost, insurance, freight) seller must arrange the carrier shipment and the buyer picks up the goods at the port of desinaion. Ddp (delivery duty paid) the seller delivers the goods to the buyer"s locaion and pays all duty along the way: payment. Export promoions: countries obviously want more exports but they do try to maintain a balance of trade (which is why canada has mostly free trade) Export controls: restricions on exports (even though exports are encouraged)
