BU354 Chapter Notes - Chapter 7: Extraversion And Introversion, Essential Selection, Inductive Reasoning
Document Summary
Selection: the process of choosing among individuals who have been recruited to fill existing or projected job openings. Begins with a pool of applicants who have submitted their resumes as a result of the recruiting process. Selection process must be free from intentional & systematic discrimination. Selection ratio: the ratio of the number of applicants hired to the total number of applicants: small ratio- limited # of applicants from which to select, which may mean low-quality recruits, large ratio- job ad is too vague. Multiple hurdle strategy: an approach to selection involving a series of successive steps or hurdles. Only candidates clearing the hurdle are permitted to move onto the next step. How to design an effective selection process: step 1: decide who will be involved in the selection process and develop selection criteria, step 2: specify musts and wants and weigh the wants. Must criteria: absolutely essential for the job (education & work experience, easy to measure)
