I. e. homes or bedrooms, or possessional territories (i. e. purses, children: secondary not as central to daily life of the owner. Not perceived as clearly exclusive to owner. Televisions or magazines that can be claimed temporarily by people. Public-private boundary is blurred: public available to almost anyone for temporary ownership. Violation the unwarranted use of another"s territory. Invasion an attempt to take over another"s territory: more permanent. Contamination defiling another"s territory by what we leave behind. Two primary methods for territorial defense are prevention and reaction: prevention a means of staking out our territory so others recognize it as ours and go elsewhere. Density refers to the number of people per unit of space.
