Document Summary

Biologically, the necessary condition for life is a coordinated set of chemical reactions. Every chemical reaction in a living body takes place in a water solution at a rate that depends on the identity and concentration of molecules in the water, and the temperature of the solution. Behaviour is organized to keep the right chemicals in the right proportions at the right temperature. Refers to temperature regulation and other biological processes that keep body variables within a fixed range. Homeostatic processes trigger physiological and behavioural activities that keep certain variables within set range. Sometimes range is so narrow its refered to as a set point (single value the body works to maintain) Negative feedback: processes that reduce discrepancies from the set point, much of motivated behaviour, something causes a disturbance and behaviour proceeds until it relieves disturbance. The adaptive way in which the body anticipates needs depending on the situation, avoiding errors rather than just correcting them.
