Prejudice (144): attitude that judges a person on his or her group"s real or imagined characteristics. Discrimination (144): unfair treatment of people of their group membership. Genes determine the behaviour of racial groups. Sociologist find the term an invaluable analytical tool. People who use the term refer to socially significant physical differences rather than biological differences. Race (145): social construct used to distinguish people in terms of one or more physical markers: race matters allows social inequality.
