An interdisciplinary field devoted to topics concerning women, gender and feminism. Concerned with gender as it intersects multiple categories (race, ethnicity etc) Understanding the experiences of being a woman and recognise development as a site of social justice. Goal of wgs: provide an academic framework, community, advocacy. Changes in society (such as globalization), has led to deindustrialization of the north, dispersed geopolitical boundaries and new technology has all shaped contemporary imperialism. Androcentrism: putting men at the centre of society and relegating women as outsiders. Literature often stereotyped women because it was most often written by men. Women began to advocate for courses that focus on women in content and theory. Wgs rebalanced curriculum and transformed traditional knowledge one sided information is false!
