ADMS 1010 Chapter Notes - Chapter 7: Ideas Group, Persuasive Writing
Document Summary
How to make your own arguments, sharing your views w/ an audience. Figure out what your issue is, and what is your position on that issue. We write best when we care deeply about what we are writing, so discover why you care about an assigned topic. Emotions signal that an event was important to us in some way, and this can be excellent reason to choose a topic. Sometimes right away you know what your claim will be bc you"ve thought about the issue before. Other times, the claim emerges as you begin collecting your evidence. Make an outline of your claims and subclaims and start collecting evidence. Ensure that the sources you"re using are reputable, this increases authority. Make a note of when you find evidence that contradicts evidence you have read elsewhere. Make note of reality assumptions or value assumptions.
