Biodiversity is the measure of the number of species and organisms of earth that reflect the diversity of life. The study of biology focuses on the levels of life including all those who live in the biosphere. There"s an accurate estimation of the number of species that are large and easily observed (animals, plants and birds) but not those at the microscopic level (soil fungi, and aquatic prokaryotes). Organisms can be classified on how they obtain carbon because it can be synthesized into organic molecules, which are used for biological processes. Autotrophs they synthesize organic carbon molecules using inorganic carbon (co2) Heterotrophs they obtain carbon by eating other living organisms. Organisms can also be classified according to the type of energy source they use for their biological processes. Chemotrophs they obtain energy by oxidizing inorganic and organic molecules. Chemoautotrophs use co2 and the oxidation of molecules for an energy source.
