In this chapter it discusses about the research of health with knowledge paradigms, methodologies, and several other methods. Knowledge paradigms in health studies have three primary approaches, positivism, idealism, and realism. Positivism focuses on individuals focused through surveys, experimental methods, and observations. The purpose is to develop general principle law and identity cause and effect on relationships. Idealism focuses on human interpretations and understanding the world, which helps shape peoples experience on health and illness. Realism is concerned with societal structure and these determine the distribution of societal economics, social, and political resources. The chapter also goes into social epidemiology, which shapes how knowledge is developed and under stood. Ontology is the belief of nature in the world and its complements. Lastly the chapter talks about critical analysis in health studies. There are many types of analysis such as human rights analysis, historical analysis and more.
