Collins: typically we fail to see how our thoughts and actions uphold, ex. In order to reconceptualize race and to break stereotyping barriers, we must acquire new theories of how race shaped the experiences of all groups. Lorde, change starts with relationships around us, primary site for social change. In orderto move toward new visions of oppressions, we need to ask new questions. If friends and collegues reflect the homogeneity of one race, class and gender group, these have become barriers to connections. Jackie robinson broke the colour line in major league baseball: on jackie robinsons day ( celebration of the start of diversity) no issues of racism are being addressed. Issues of how there is still racism even today in 2013: the robinson film doesn"t depict what actually happened, just the typical stuff ( robinson is a political man, the film didn"t seem to care about that)
