Purpose is to
1.enhance physical tness
2.decrease disease
3. ensure safety during exercise participation
Smart goals
To show exercise prescription can lead to target goal, goals need to be
well dened and concrete so perso know when and if they attained
their goals.
For example, a persons goal could not just be physically acive, this
goal is problematic cuz u don’t know how much PA you need before
they reach goal or there is no timeline.
SMART=
S= specic= details; the 5 W’s
M=measureable= concrete critera so individual can see their progress
A=achieveable= within their mental, physical, nancial capacity and
control
R=Releastic= something person is willing and able to achieve
T=timeline; when they are going to achieve
For example,
Poor goal problem Smart goal
Get tter Not specic,
measureable or have
timeframe
Jog 30 minutes 3
times/week
Lose 10lb per week Not releasitc Lose 1-2lbs a week
Go to Olympic for
rowing
Not achieveable
within their control
Imrpove erg time by
30 sec by end of
season
FITT principle
In order to achieve SMART goal, they need CLEAR exericise prescription
Just like drug prescription u need to know how much u need to take,
the dosage.. etc
FITT=
F= frequency
I=intensity
T=time
T=type
