The age old debate of what is good and what is evil has been one that plagued the minds of many individuals and philosophers alike. Socrates, one of the first western philosophers, was concerned with finding the good through attaining happiness through self-examination and virtue. This paper will address socrates" virtues and how it leads to a good life compared to his accuser"s virtues and the two pursuers wickedness and death. This paper is based on the apology by plato, concerning the defense of. Socrates against meletus and the state for impiety and corrupting the youth. The paper will be as follows; it will begin with the accuser"s virtues, then socrates" understanding of virtues in comparison and the pursuer wickedness and death. The apology by plato is concerning the trial of socrates for not believing in the state gods and corrupting the young. The main accusers of the trial were meletus, anytus and lycon.
