Effortful processing strategies are able to help people in forming new memories. Later on in the process of effortful processing strategies, during memory retrieval, the strategies of effortful processing they either will work or not. Try to look at the following letters for a few seconds, then close your eyes and try to say what you viewed. You can easily recall what you viewed when they are grouped together: this can be done by putting letters together, shifting words around and organizing. It is easier to remember information through information chunking. This refers to the organization of letters/words into familiar categories. This is done in order to make memorizing easier and more effective. Imagine how difficult and challenging, even impossible it would be to be able to recall, recollect and remember 50 numbers and letters. Try to break it up into ten chunks in order to make it more manageable. Our minds are easily able to process chunking.
