Chapter 4 behaviour and aitudes social psychology. Every year millions of people are killed by smoking. Smoking execs don"t believe their at fault: it is something they believe or internalized lying. To know people"s aitudes is to predict their acions: extreme aitudes can produces extreme behaviour, but changing people"s aitudes hardly change their behaviour. Believes that we ind aitudes for what we do. Aitude: a favourable or unfavourable evaluaive reacion toward something or someone, exhibited in one"s beliefs, feelings or intended behaviour: an eicient way to size up the world. Three abc"s of aitudes: afect (feelings, behaviour (tendency, cogniion (thoughts) Moral hypocrisy: appearing moral without being so. Would choose the preferenial task when allocaing them: when morality and greed are put on the same course, greed wins. Behaviour and aitudes difer because there are a lot of outside inluences: when those inluences are large our aitude and behaviour difers, when they are small, they align.
