Circadian rhythm: biological clock, regular bodily rhythms that occur on 24 hour cycle. Will feel groggy at night, have more energy in morning. Most 20 yr olds have most energy at night, performance improving across day. Women get morning energy at earlier ages motherhood. Rem sleep: rapid eye movement sleep, recurring sleep stage during which vivid dreams commonly occur, aka paradoxical sleep cause muscles relaxed, other body systems active. Alpha waves: relatively slow brain waves of a relaxed, awake state. Sleep: periodic, natural, easily reversible loss of consciousness as distinct from unconsciousness resulting from a coma, general anesthesia or hibernation. During brief nrem-1 sleep you may experience images resembling hallucinations. Hallucinations: false sensory experiences such as seeing something in the absence of an external visual stimulus. Hypnagogic sensations sensations of falling/floating when sleeping. 20 minutes of nrem-2 sleep, may have sleep spindles burst of rapid, rhythmic brain wave activity. Can be awakened easily but are still sleeping.
