Module 48 anxiety disorders, ocd + ptsd. Anxiety disorders: psychological disorders characterized by distressing, persistent anxiety or maladaptive behaviors that reduce anxiety. Generalized anxiety disorder which a person is unexplainably + continually tense and uneasy. Panic disorder in which a person experience sudden episodes of intense dread. Phobias in which a person is intensely + irrationally afraid of a specific objet, activity or situation. Obsessive-compulsive disorder person is troubled by repetitive thoughts and/or actions. Posttraumatic stress disorder person has lingering memories, nightmares + other symptoms for weeks after a severely threatening, uncontrollable event. Generalized anxiety disorder: an anxiety disorder in which a person is continually tense, apprehensive + in a state of autonomic nervous system arousal. Anxiety is free floating, cannot identify or deal with its cause. Panic disorder: an anxiety disorder marked by unpredictable, minutes-long episodes of intense dread in which a person experience terror + accompanying chest pain, choking or other frightening sensations.
