Sigmund freud was born in moravia in 1856. Freud was the first child of his parents but his father had two sons from previous marriage and they had seven more children after his birth. When he was younger, he had big dreams such as becoming a great general or a government official but because there was limited possibilities for advancement for freud who was a jewish, he pursued a career in medicine. Mechanism (mechanist) address questions about nature and possibilities of science of biology. Vitalism (vitalist) is an opposing movement to mechanism. They argue that biological science cannot fully explain biological life because life arose from nonmaterial forces (soul, spirits etc). Meanwhile, mechanist argue that natural science can provide a comprehensive explanation where basic physical and chemical factors could fully explain the functioning of organism. In 1897, a year after his father"s death, freud fell into depression and had anxiety periodically.
