What is a psychological disorder: psychological disorder or abnormal behaviour is a psychological dysfunction within an individual associated with distress or impairment in functioning and a response that is not typical or culturally expected, three elements: Psychological dysfunction (1: refers to a breakdown in cognitive, emotional, or behavioural functioning, for example, if you are on a date, it should be fun. We must know where to draw the line between normal and abnormal dysfunction. Personal distress or impairment (2: the disorder or behaviour must be associated with distress, this criterion does not define abnormal behaviour. It is often normal to be distressed for example, if someone dies: same concept for impairment, many people consider themselves shy or lazy, but this doesn"t make them abnormal. However, if you are so shy that you find it impossible to interact with people, your social functioning is impaired.
