Stressful life events trigger our biological and psychological vulnerabilities to anxiety. Comorbidity with physical disorders: anxiety disorder co-occur with several physical conditions, anxiety was associated with thyroid disease, respiratory disease, gastrointestinal disease, arteritis, migraine and allergic conditions. Suicide: people with panic disorder associated with suicide, weissman study confirms that having anxiety increases chances of suicidal thoughts/attempts as well. She went on dates with her boyfriend and even if it went well, she would always think the next date would be catastrophic, but it always went well. Clinical description: panic is associated with autonomic arousal, presumable as a result of sns surge, gad is characterised by muscle tension, mental agitation, susceptibility to fatigue. In dsm-5, panic disorder and acrophobia were integrated to one disorder: to meet criteria for panic disorder, a person must think that each attack is a sign of impending death or incapacitation. Causes: learned alarms: process in which cues become associated with different internal/external stimuli.
