Eating disordersThere are gender difference in dieting in multiple countries and continues to increase in adolescent girls Men who have eating disorders tend to have similar symptoms to women like working out purging and body dissatisfaction People w eating disorders also have a high rate of depressionsubstance abuse Men who become anorexic normally have histories of being overweight or bingeing women do not 151 anorexia nervosa Diagnosis prevalence and prognosis of anorexia nervosa Anorexia nervosa requires that a person be 15 under the minimum healthy weight for their height Amenorrhea when a women has so much weight lost that they stop having menstrual periodsPeople have intense fears of becoming fat and believe they are only worthwhile if they have complete control of their weight person can be chronically fatigued but will still do excessive exercise 1 of ppl will develop it in their life and most are white females normally begins around 1519 and can also be related to other disorders like depressionThe most common type of death for ppl w AN is suicide Types of anorexia nervosa Restricting type ppl simply refuse to eat so they can lose weight ppl can go for days wout eating or will eat a very small amount each day Bingepurge type ppl engage in periodic binging does not mean the person eats large amounts of food and purging Different from BN since bulimics are normal or a little overweight and bulimics normally do not develop amenorrhea
