Reduced metabolism was discovered in mem related areas. These findings suggest that extreme psychological distress may lead retrieval suppression to be engaged involuntarily in reaction to certain stimuli. Recovered mem of trauma: instances of motivated forgetting--p. 287-292. Person recovers a mem gradually in suggestive therapy.
