The memory of our life story is autobiographical memory. Episodic or semantic: in a way, they are a kind of episodic memory. However, autobiographical memories go beyond the info found in episodic memory alone. Autobiographical memories span multiple events while episodic memories are each confined to a single event: much of our life story involves stable, semantic-like info. Still, autobiographical memories differ from semantic memories in that they are unique about our lives: not only does autobiographical memory have semantic aspects, but semantic memories are influenced by autobiographical memories. ex. Semantic knowledge of famous ppl is more available of they are autobiographically significant, such as a personal hero, even when you account for frequency & recency of exposure. Varieties of info: autobiographical memories are about events in our lives & how they are interrelated. Within this lifetime period there are a number of components. These components are associated w/ a collection of general events, which are the first meeting.
