Struggle and resistance in a transnational mexican tortilla factory. The tortilla behemoth documentary written by carolina bank munoz focuses on the interconnectivity of race, gender, and class in two tortilla factories located on opposite sides of the united sates and mexico border in california. Munoz states that, although both factories are owned by the same mexican corporate company named: tortimundo, managed by mexican capitalists, the work, job requirements and production at these factories depends solely on the various inequalities between the workers. By analyzing the documentary, i was able to grasp the fact that hegemony plays an important role in this business. It was stated in the reading that approximately seventy percent of the workers were men and the managers at the locations automatically fix that the assembly line work as women"s work not worthy of a mexican male .
