It is the activity that lies at the heart of the order the drive to get ahead, to make money, to accumulate capital(cid:499) (cid:523)(eilbroner, 26(cid:524) This quote characterizes the notion of capital that is at the heart of productivity in modern day economy. Wealth whose value does not inhere in its physical characteristics but, in its use to create a larger amount of capital and can be a virtuous or a vicious cycle. I picked this quote since it helps define the nature of capitalism, namely accumulation. However, wealth is a symbol of power and prestige while capital differs from wealth in its intrinsically dynamic character.
