SOSC 2210 Chapter Notes - Chapter Reflection Paper Assignment: Naimans, Social Class, Neoliberalism
Document Summary
Throughout history, money, wealth, and capital have dictated ones way of life. In some societies, a person"s social class is unavoidable. Social class often dictates everyday life, whether it is the clothes you wear, the car you drive or the in some instances, the overall way you are treated in society. In this context, what is right for some may be wrong for others. This is partly the reality in a capitalist society. In canada, we live in a capitalist society where most production of goods and services is undertaken by privately owned companies, which produce and sell their output in hopes of making a profit (stanford, 2008). Capitalism emphasizes private economic decisions in which people are free to decide how they will earn and spend their income without excessive government interference. Capitalism provides the possibility for individuals to manage their own business thus generating wealth or profit for him or herself.
