Prisonization: adapting to the norms and values of a prison setting or prison subculture. We are bringing our lifestyle in from the outside. Walking into a prison doesn"t automatically make you a different person. You cannot choose your clothes, food, or sexuality. Individuals who participate in homosexual behavior while in prison, but not outside of prison. In terms of sexual options, you are limited to the population inside of the prison. Males utilize sex in prison to establish dominance. There is a sexual hierarchy in prison. Respected individuals who are dominated sexually but are protected by the wolves. Punks/fairies - wimps, bottom of the food chain. Women are more likely to need emotional companionship. In prisons, women often have companion partners. Masculine females are considered the head of the family, called uncle or daddy. Other masculine females are brothers or nephews. Feminine female members are sisters or nieces.
