Mental processes: internal cognitive processes such as thoughts memories and emotions- unobservable behaviors( attitude, feelings dreams etc) Studying psychology is important because: studying daily life which makes you a more affective person. How to improve yourself and relationships and change your thinking. Common sense can get in the way of finding accurate info but can still be tested. Counterintuitive: being contrary to what intuition or common sense would indicate. Critical thinking: a way of interpreting or evaluating info with a set of reflective attitudes and abilities that guide thoughtful beliefs and actions. Refuse to accept commonsense beliefs at a face value. Pop psychology: nonscience that has been made popular for use or enjoyment by the public ex: Dr. phil sometimes helpful but isn"t always authorized by a licensed psychologist. Parapsychology: phenomena that are outside of scientific boundaries ex: hauntings telepathy, d j vu telekinesis and other psychics
