Some of the ways mike could try to turn the group into a team is become a team player by participating into a collective effort of getting the job done efficiently. Mike can attempt to conduct this through the four stages of teambuilding: forming, storming, norming and performing. Mike can first communicate to his team to establish behaviors that are agreed and accepted by everybody. This allows each member of the team to become on the same page. Through communication, mike can encourage the teams output toward establishing team goals, including everyone in the decision making process and the collaboration amongst the team. I think the main reason that the group has such negative norms is because the management has not created awareness, focus and effort to his/her team. This in turn creates not creating the steps to ensure the teams goals and quality improvement of service and products for guests.
