Standard lighting techniques: the standard photographc lighting technique is known as the photographic principle or triangle lighting, referring to the triangular arrangement of key, back , and fill lights . It is an extension of the back light: the background light aka set light illuminates the background which can be a set of an interior of a backdrop. Lighting for fast falloff and for light/dark contrast: the basic aim of this type of lighting is to articulate space, clarify and intensify 3 dimensional property of things and give the scene expressive quality. Analysis of chiaroscuro lighting: ex: the scene spanish wake by last american photographer w. eugene smith is emotionally involving. This reaction is due to its highly charged subject matter- women mourning the death of a patriarch- but also to the chiaroscuro lighting. Light source and overall illumination: the light source ( of the photograph) seems to come from the upper left.
