A- sensory memory: information to be remembered are processed momentarily. Iconic memory: photographic/picture image memory that lasts a few tenths of a second. Echoic memory: recalling auditory stimuli that lasts within 3-4 seconds. Short term memory: remember a few items that can be encoded through rehearsal. The more you know about something, the more you can remember. Working memory: active processing of short term memory that concentrates on conscious, auditory and visual/spatial info. Long term memory: permanent information that can be retrieved. There is no capacity, so long term memory is unlimited. Automatic processing: unconscious processing of information without our knowing/awareness. Information that is processed automatically are space, time, and frequency. Implicit memories (declarative memories): learning skills classically condition without conscious awareness/knowing. Effortful processing: encoding and processing information that requires paying attention consciously.
