Seminar 4 reading notes: the poor inherit the kingdom. The assurance that god is for them: the god of jesus is the god of the poor and lowly; jesus proclaims the good nes in word and deed; jesus blesses the poor and threatens the rich. Luke"s focus on wealth and poverty is addresses primarily to the rich; new evaluation of possessions and their place in the christian life an community. The radical danger: two major themes regarding possessions: #1- radical danger to christian discipleship: total abandonment of ones possessions; one cannot have earthly treasures and have a good christian life. Discipleship of wealth: the discipleship use of one"s wealth- possessions are placed in the hands of those in need, new standard of giving and sharing of wealth within the christin community. Social dimension of the gospel: social gospel vs strictly spiritual gospel.
