Document Summary
Pacs 10 ubuntugogy for the 21st century by van der walt. Argument: understanding how different cultural environments develop and disseminate interpretations of peace and social justice is a worthwhile and necessary endeavor. We need to employ a critical lens in this process, as is always liable to misinterpretation and manipulation. Sub-saharan africa has been portrayed in negative ways that contradict the precepts of the traditional african philosophy of life ubuntu. According to ubuntu, a person is who s/he is only because of the existence of others and because of his/her coexistence with them. Argument: ununtugogy is a more suitable approach for sub-saharan africa than typical. Two changes have to be made to render ununtugogy more amenable to the demands of the modern african sub-continent. Ubuntu has to be updated to put it more in line with the demands of 21st century life. Ubuntugogy needs a global format to be able to address the needs of modern sub-continental africans.
