Immediacy and presence set theatre apart from other forms of art. Theatre is an art form that engages human beings to tell stories about other human beings. The matchmaker is a good example of how theatre engages people (story about true love). Theatre"s diference from other media is the physical presence of actors and audiences together within a space arranged for seeing and being seen. Live theatre is beter than ilmed theatre because you can really experience the emoions beter. Not that many people can watch theatre at one ime like they can watch sports or concerts. Tv tries to be like theatre with on-the-spot shows like survivor. We can never truly transform theatre into another medium. Once it happens, it"s lost forever and we will never experience what those who witnessed it live were experiencing. It is a living form of art. Art mirroring life and life mirroring art is the special quality of theatre"s doubleness.
