Chapter 4 speed: tells us how far it will go in a certain amount of time velocity: tells us both the speed and its direction (100 kilometers per hour going due north) You don"t feel any effects when moving at a constant velocity (airplane) acceleration: something has acceleration if its velocity is changing in any way, whether in speed or direction or both. It is an increase in speed, decrease in speed, and a turn. Turning means changing direction which is a change in velocity so turing is an acceleration even if your speed remains constant. *galileo demonstrated that gravity accelerates all objects by the same amount, regardless of their mass. The acceleration of gravity causes falling objects to fall faster by 10m/s squared. 10 meters per second per second momentum: mass x velocity. The only way to change an object"s momentum is to apply a force to it.
