In chapter 8, kovach states that journalists must make the significant interesting and relevant. Journalists must find key issues and debates and highlight them. It is the responsibility of a journalist to bring information to light; journalists must not only make unrenowned information readily available, but must also present it in a memorable and interesting manner. Kovach sums up a journalist"s responsibility perfectly when he says. Journalism is storytelling with a purpose (p. 189). It is important for a journalist to distinguish what is relevant and how to express a subject"s relevancy. Journalists should be straightforward; they should tell the consumers of the news what the story is really about. Journalists should put stories in contexts and be mindful of their audiences. They should also be life-long learners, always trying new techniques and gaging what works well and what doesn"t.
