Supply component starts at the beginning of the chain and ends with the internal operations of the organization. Demand component of the chain starts at the point where the organization"s output is delivered to it simmediate customer and ends with the nal customer in the chain. The demand chain is the sales and distribution portion of the chain. The closer the organization is to nal customer, the shorter its demand component and longer its supply component. Process of planning, implementing, and controlling supply chain operations. Goal: match supply to demand as effectively and ef ciently as possible. Aspects: determining the appropriate level of outsourcing, managing procurement, managing suppliers, managing customer relationships, being able to quickly identify problems and respond to them. * product and service flow - the movement of goods or services from suppliers to customers as well as handling customer service needs and product returns.
