*personality: relatively consistent blend of emotions , temperament , thought and behavior that makes everyone unique. Psychosocial development = personality is intertwined with social relationships. *emotions: subjective reactions to experience that are associated w/ physiological & behavioral changes. Crying is most powerful way that an infant can communicate their needs and can sometimes be the only way. Hunger crying rhythmic cry , not always associated w/ hunger. Anger cry- variation of rhythmic cry w/ air forced through vocal cords. Pain cry-sudden onset of oud crying w/o moans & holding of breath . Smiling appears not too long after birth b/c of subcortical ns activity , frequently occur during. *self-conscious emotions: emotions such as embarrassment , empathy and envy that depend on self-awareness. *self-awareness: realizatio(cid:374) that o(cid:374)e"s e(cid:454)iste(cid:374)(cid:272)e & fu(cid:374)(cid:272)tio(cid:374)i(cid:374)g are separate fro(cid:373) those of other people & things. *self-evaluative emotions: pride , shame and guilt .
