Document Summary

Watch selected segments from video below and answer the questions while watching the video: http://www. learner. org/resources/series78. html. Watch video 19: running water i: rivers, erosion and deposition (stop at minute 16) The shape, size, and composition of the particles being transported. Ridges made of sand and gravel where the river has deposited sediments( large ripples) Describe a meander point bar and cut bank. A point bar occurs at the curve of the river where the water moves slower and deposits sand (inside) The cut bank is where erosion occurs and the water moves fast (outside) Edges of floodplains, they are ridges of sediments left by flood, they help keep the river from flooding. Cons: confines sediment and raises the river bed, false sense of security. Because this really is the same as the river, it has all the same composition because the floodplain is just filled with the extra river water. Explain the goods and odds of river dams.
