The term psychology comes from psyche (the soul) and logos (the study of a subject)= the study of the mind. Wilhelm wundt (1832-1920) campaigned to make psychology an independent discipline rather than a stepchild of philosophy or physiology. Psychology became the scienti c study of conscious experience.
