There are different ways to understand the congress which comes with the understanding
the depth of the congress. For congress they come with different parts which are representation,
lawmaking and partisanship. Representation is the effort by elected officials to look out for the
interest of those who elect eh, including keeping election promises. Lawmaking is the creation of
policy which will address the problems and need of the entire need. Lastly, partisanship is the
loyalty to a party that helps shape how members see the world. There are four type of
representation which are policy representation, Allocative representation, casework, and
Symbolic representation. Policy; to advance the issues and ideological, Allocative; work to
secure projects, and services; Casework assistance solving constituent problems; Symbolic is the
effort of members of Congress to stand for America. Partisanship, the members of Congress have
juggled commitment to the party with the simultaneous. Checks and balances is a big part in the
congress because it passes bills that the president signs, vetoes. The president executes laws and
administers executive branch, congress exercises oversight of executive branch activities.
Congress makes the laws; the courts interpret them, sets up lower federal courts and determined
salaries. The politics of defining the congress are the reapportionment, redistricting and
gerrymandering. Being a representative congress does not represent the public demographically.
Many more white males over the age 40 in congress than in the Unites States population. Being a
representative has its own focus which has different occupations, which are dominated by
lawyers and business people and politicians. Education and income which is more than ¾’s have
advanced degrees. Race and gender , women and minorities are not well represented, but are
more represented than they were before. Congressional organization is the central party role; the
parties frequently vote in congress, Majority party controls leadership structure. There are four
committee standing committees, select committees, joint committees, and conference
committees.
There are different qualification and conditions for the office. They have to be elected the
electoral college, limited to two 4 year term in office, who is a natural born citizen resident for
24 years and at least 35 years of age. The vice president succeeds in event of death or removal
from office. Removal from office by House impeachment and Senate conviction for “High
crimes and misdeanors”. Impeachment a formal charge by the house that the president another
member of the executive branch has committed acts of “Treason, Bribery, or other high crimes”

vision of limited executive power. Working with congress has to be shared powers and
conflicting Policy goals, the legislative lidison, executive personnel who work with members of
congress to secure their support getting a president’s legislation. Managing the presidential
establishment which is the cabinet the department that heads often experts in their specific area
of policy and are therefore not as likely to place the president’s policy agenda above their own.
The presidential personality is classifying presidential character , expectation that knowing about
presidential personalities will help explain or predict presidential behavior. The citizens and
